Introducing VibeFocus: Portfolio Intelligence for Multi-Project Builders

Why we built VibeFocus, what it does, and how it helps solo founders and indie hackers stay focused across multiple projects.

Why we built VibeFocus, what it does, and how it helps solo founders and indie hackers stay focused across multiple projects.

If you are a solo founder, indie hacker, or vibe coder juggling multiple projects at once, you know the feeling. You check in on one repo, realize another one has been sitting idle for weeks, and suddenly the momentum you had is scattered across five different things. Context switching becomes the norm, and shipping slows to a crawl.

That is exactly why we built VibeFocus.

Watch the Overview

Get a quick look at what VibeFocus does and how it works:

The Problem: Too Many Projects, Not Enough Focus

Most project management tools are built for teams. They assume you have one product, a backlog, sprints, and stand-ups. But when you are a solo builder running a portfolio of side projects, open-source tools, and startup experiments, you need something different. You need a way to see everything at a glance, understand what is stalling, and decide where to put your energy this week.

Spreadsheets and to-do apps do not cut it. They do not know about your commits, your code, or the real trajectory of each project. They cannot tell you that your most important project has not had a commit in three weeks while you have been deep in a rabbit hole on something less critical.

What VibeFocus Does

VibeFocus is your personal mission control for multi-project development. It is free, open-source, and designed for people who build in public and ship fast. Here is what it brings to the table:

  • Portfolio Dashboard - See all your projects in one view with health scores, completion percentages, and activity timelines.
  • Git-Powered Insights - VibeFocus reads your commit history to surface real velocity data, not guesses.
  • Weekly Focus Commitments - Pick the projects that matter most this week and track whether you actually followed through.
  • AI-Powered Code Intelligence - Built on the Anthropic Agent SDK, VibeFocus uses Claude to power code intelligence, chat, and smart recommendations across your portfolio.
  • MCP Integration - Connect VibeFocus to Claude, Claude Code, and other AI agents through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), giving them full context on every project: goals, next steps, health, notes, and code analysis.
  • Goals and Next Steps - Break projects into sub-goals and concrete next actions so you always know what to do when you sit down to work.
  • Saved Insights - Capture strategic realizations and decisions so they do not get lost between sessions.

Built on the Anthropic Agent SDK

VibeFocus is powered by the Anthropic Agent SDK and Claude. This is not a superficial AI wrapper. Claude drives the code intelligence engine that analyzes your repositories, generates project health assessments, and powers the chat interface where you can ask questions about your portfolio and get answers grounded in real data.

VibeFocus Architecture - FastAPI backend with Anthropic Agent SDK, SQLite database, React dashboard, and MCP server connecting to external agents like Claude Code

Connect Your Agents via MCP

VibeFocus also acts as an MCP server, exposing over 30 tools that any MCP-compatible agent can use. That means Claude Code, the Claude desktop app, or any other AI agent you use for coding can tap into your VibeFocus data in real time.

Start a coding session and your agent already knows your project goals, recent activity, next steps, and health status. Ask “What should I work on today?” or “Which project is falling behind?” and get answers grounded in real portfolio data, not generic suggestions. When you finish a task that matches a known next step, your agent can mark it complete in VibeFocus automatically.

Built for the Way You Already Work

VibeFocus is not another app demanding your attention. It runs locally with a lightweight FastAPI backend and SQLite database. There is no sign-up, no subscription, and no data leaving your machine. Install it, point it at your git repos, and you are up and running.

Getting Started

VibeFocus is open source and available on GitHub. You can get started in minutes:

  1. Clone the VibeFocus repository
  2. Follow the installation guide
  3. Add your projects and start tracking

If you are interested in the hosted version with cloud sync, team dashboards, and more, visit vibefocus.ai to join the VibeFocus Cloud waitlist for early access.

What’s Next

We are actively building VibeFocus in the open and using it daily to manage our own project portfolio (including VibeFocus itself). Upcoming features include enhanced analytics, weekly review reports, and deeper AI-powered recommendations.

VibeFocus is the first product in the UpwardBit Ventures suite of tools for builders. Stay tuned for more product announcements, and if you have feedback or feature requests, open an issue on GitHub.
